With new programs and systems being implemented, the branch has been busy planning & implementing training for ELSA’s Student Tracking and Reporting System 2 (STaRS 2), Child-minding, the Guided Pathways model, and for Instructors of the upcoming ELSA 6 & 7 Pilot Projects.

Multiculturalism and EmbraceBC Updates
The Multiculturalism Unit is responsible for the EmbraceBC program and the Multiculturalism Advisory Council Secretariat and is now under the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation (previously with Ministry of Social Development). The Honourable Harry Bloy is the Minister of State for Multiculturalism.

EmbraceBC: Multiculturalism Week 2011
The Province of British Columbia designated the third week of November as Multiculturalism Week in order to recognize and celebrate B.C.’s cultural diversity. By encouraging a dialogue for cross-cultural understanding and community inclusiveness, this year’s Multiculturalism week proved to be yet another success and involved two key events organized by the ministry, as described below.
