The project location parallels portions of the Canyon View trail upstream of the Catalyst pumphouse and downstream of the Canyon View bridge. The trail will remain open for the majority of the project. However, temporary daily trail closures will be in effect during site clearing and the installation of the river intake at the project area. The public are being asked to co-operate with site-specific trail closures during these times.
The B.C. government continues to make significant investments in the BC Parks system, including capital funding of about $83 million over the past four years to improve park facilities and acquire new lands.
Since 2001, the provincial government has established 57 new parks, 129 conservancies, one ecological reserve and eight protected areas, and expanded almost 50 parks and six ecological reserves, protecting more than 1.8 million hectares. Today, 14.26 per cent (or more than 13.5 million hectares) of British Columbia is protected – more than any other province in Canada.
Local updates will be posted at main trail entrances. For online updates on trail closures, please visit BC Parks.
